B.Sc. Honours in Applied Statistics
The B.Sc. Honours course in Applied Statistics is a 4 year degree course, which is divided into 4 semesters. The examination is taken at the end of each semester year. Each student is expected to take a total of 32 units of the courses extending over the 4 academic years.
The program consists of both theoretical and applied natures. It has been designed such that after successful completion of it, the graduates gets placed in government as well as non governmental organizations.
Students securing high marks in SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations with Mathematics as a subject of study are eligible for admission. Further regulations for admission of the students as well as the examinations are same as those of B.Sc. Honours Course in the Faculty of Science.
M.Sc. in Applied Statistics
The Master of Science or M.Sc. course in Applied Statistics is a one year program where the M.Sc. examination in Applied Statistics is taken in 2 groups. One being the general group and the other is the Thesis group. The total credit of the course is 8. In this course, one unit carries 100 marks whereas a half unit carries 50 marks. For the Thesis group, only a selected number of students are considered and that too only at the recommendation of the academic committee. A thesis student is expected to submit thesis carrying 150 marks (120 marks for the thesis and the remaining 30 marks for the viva on the thesis). While other general category students are expected to do a project and after which they are expected to submit a project report, carrying 50 marks and advanced statistical computing carrying 100 marks.
Additionally, each M.Sc. student is required to give at least a seminar during the academic year. This is a non-credit course, but compulsory. The qualifying performance in the seminar should be the equivalent to minimum 40% marks and grade assigned are either satisfactory or non satisfactory. Moreover, academic performance in the seminars is evaluated by the academic committee.

ISRT offers training modules for a short term basis to researchers, practitioners, students as well as professionals who want to have a statistical background, apart from knowing computing. In these training modules, a number of statistical packages are also made available to the trainees. The institute also provides training programs for the faculties.
